Each year thousands upon thousands of college students in the US let loose on a vacation with their friends to enjoy spring break. For many college students, choosing places like Cancun, Daytona Beach, and the Bahamas is an easy choice. With sunny skies, warm whether, and booming a nightlife in each of these areas, it’s no wonder why these are at the top of the list for many college students. Because of their popularity, however, each of these places quickly becomes over-crowded, particularly at the beaches and at restaurants where the cost of food can be driven up.
Many college students are starting sway from the traditional beach scene in order to enjoy spring break their way. Cruise ships for spring breakers are quickly becoming a trend as they allow for a warm, fun-filled vacation away from the crowds. The common misconception about cruise ships is that they are for newlyweds or for family vacations. In reality, there are different cruise for different age groups who have their own idea of fun. Many college students may have worries that they could get yelled at by an annoyed middle aged couple on a cruise ship are finding themselves on cruise ships that were created to tailor the needs of college-aged travelers.
Before booking any type of cruise, it’s important to research what each type of cruise ship offers. The most popular cruise lines are Celebrity Cruises, Carnival Cruises, Royal Caribbean, and Costa Cruises (to name a few.) Within these cruise lines there are different type of ships that offer different types of amenities and activities. By looking into each cruise line, college students can find the line that is right for them and then from there get more specific by finding a ship that is also tailored to their specific wants and needs. Many college students who are looking for adventure and excitement are encouraged to avoid ships that are geared toward families. Family cruise lines may frown upon excessive drinking and other party activities. Unless college students are into hanging out with their family, these type of cruises are definitely on the “avoid” list. Another common type of cruise to avoid is one that is tailored toward couples. These cruises are centered around romance and relaxation. Unless traveling with a partner, these cruises can be boring for a college student or cause a newlywed couple a headache and are also a great cruise to put on the “avoid” list.
To bring themselves closer to a cruise ship that meets their needs, many college students are encouraged to look into cruise ships that stress the word “adventure.” As well as exciting entertainment, college students will find themselves in an environment where heavy drinking is not frowned upon as much as it is on other types of cruises. Furthermore, these ships often dock at large ports where the fun can continue on shore either in the US or in a foreign country where college students can indulge in culture. These types of cruises are also great for making new friends as many people do.
